Played Risk! with the German Class - for the first time in a year or so. I had quickly established a stronghold in Europe and was defending it quite well. Liberating Asia from the weak Yellow opposition still left me a bit exhausted, but I had to continue towards North America, via Iceland and Greenland. Unfortunately I had unluck, and suffered devestating losses in the battle of Greenland, and had to pull back to Iceland. Right after Yellow got heavy reinforcements in Greenland, and took Iceland and Great Britain in two quick sweeps. My large concentrations of troops in central and southern Europe prevented him from going any further (and it wasn't his mission anyway, it turned out), but I was locked in the south because Green had been building up in North Africa since the game started - and I was suspecting their mission might involve my annihilation. So with me and Yellow in a stalemate in Europe, Green, who at that time had control over entire Australia, South Africa, and South America, launched a heavy assualt on eastern Asia (reinforcement of 24 armies each turn). My week presence there was wiped out easily, and suddenly Green had the 24 countries required for them to win the game. Bummer :-(

The nice people from Ligne Roset delivered my new Dessau armchair today.

Ran with Steve and David today at noon. An alternative route, so I don't know how long it was. It took 30 minutes.

Now it's still dark when I wake up. Sigh. And it's raining. I need to go on vacation.

Borrowed Ian McEwan's the Innocent from Andrew, read it.

Discovered that the route which we thought was 6 km in reality only is 5,30 km. Ran it with David in 15 DEG C, cloudy, but no rain.

Had Salmon fillet with Mango sauce and Rice with almonds, and Chocolate pudding for dessert. And a glass of red wine and a glass of water. Bon appetite!

Weather: 9 DEG C, cloudy, light rain. Ran a 8,51 km route (from the stairs to the woods, round and back till we leave the woods. That way the real distance is those 8,51 km plus the distance from the woods back to the stairs) with Steve, in 38 minutes. Including the hill.

Left Friday from Eumetsat, arrived in Cabourg in Normandy around 19 (if I remember correctly) Friday evening. Saturday morning till noon we ran the annual Ariane Cross, and were home again yesterday evening at 20.

Eumetsat did quite well - number 4 in the total classement, ESOC came last but 4 - out of 27 participating teams. I did quite okay: 21m14s, 3m29s after number 1, in the 5000 meter distance, thereby in as number 29 out of 118 runners in that distance, number 12 in my age group out of 34 in that group. The best time in the 5000 meter distance was 17m45s. I would have liked to run in less than 21 minutes, but I had knee problems, it was raining, cold, and the track was not a flat race track but in wet, loose sand, small hills etc. Indeed cross country.

Marvelous. Denmark has lowered the prices on spirits with 43,75 DKK per litre. That means that a normal 0,7 litre of, say, Vodka, now costs under 100 DKK. I'm sure this will have a positive influence on the public health. Not. It's a good thing the current Danish government is not in the pockets of the alchohol and tobacco industries. Not. It is.
