"Scandinavian Xmas lunch" with fellow scandinavians from Terma, Serco, Eumetsat etc. Got very drunk and was home at 2.

Ran, as the only one, 8 km.
My books from Amazon have been shipped. Finished Joyce's Portrait last evening.

Was in a meeting till 13, so I missed the 12-run. Had to run alone, then. It rained. Only 6 km (with the hill).

Placed an order for the "Smala" sofa at Ligne Roset. Expected delivery: Mid January... Also ordered two lamps for my living room - delivery in 14 days.

Ran 8 km with Steve in the lunchbreak. It didn't rain.
Had to disassemble a SS20 today in order to replace the NVRAM. Interesting experience, except that it didn't help. The machine behaves just as stupid as before - cannot boot. Guess we'll have to get a SUN techie out here anyway.

Had breakfast with Jose and Solvej at 11, packed my stuff, and met with Palle, Niels, Bodil, and Charlotte at Charlotte's place for a cup of tea and exchange of latest rumours. Was in the airport at 14 in order to catch my flight at 1420. Unfortunately SAS strikes at the moment, so we were delayed till 1620. Was home in Darmstadt around 1930 :-(.
It was a very nice prolonged weekend in Copenhagen - but the weather was terrible. Rain, strong wind, and temperatures around 5 DEG C. It was nice to see friends, family and x-collegues, and interesting to see Copenhagen's new Metro subway. It looks very nice and modern, but there are still problems with the technique - the trains were often delayed or cancled. Also, they have been working on this Metro system for many years now - I could hardly recognize the area around Noerreport station or Kongens Nytorv - they have been major construction sites for a very long time.

Saturday. Met with Per and Sven for breakfast/lunch at 1415. Said hi to Thomas as Raadshuspladsen. Later saw "Sum of all fears" in Pallads at 1530. Had dinner at Per's new place at Islandsbrygge. Went to my old university bar (Cafeen?) at midnight to say hi to Bo and Hansi. Was back in Hellerup around 2.

Friday. Went to meet Per at my old apartment and pick up my carpet. Transported it to Soeborg, where I had breakfast with my brother. Did some shopping before I met Jesper at 15 for coffee and talk. Met Morten at 16. Went to friday bar with my x-collegues at Orange at 19. Had dinner at that restaurant, which used to be called "Prag's" at Amagerbrogade (but is now called something else). Went with Jose and Solvej to Laegeforeningens Kollegium and had a few beers. Was back in Hellerup at 6 in the morning.

Leaving for Copenhagen - be back sunday.
Arrived at Copenhagen Airport 1930, and met with Servio, Eva, Jose, and Solvej at Oesterbro at 20. Watched part of Lord of the Rings and had a few beers. Went to Hellerup to sleep.

Bought Orwell's 1984 (and read it), and James Joyce's Ulysses and Portrait of the artist as a young man. Haven't started on Ulysses yet, but browsing a few pages I must say that it looks like a children's book compared to the Wake! If it's interesting enough, I shouldn't take me more than a rainy afternoon to read it.
Went to a party in Magdalenen Str. together with some 300 (it turned out) other ESOC-people and hangarounds. Settled the world situation and humiliated myself at the pinball machine. Was home at half past three.

Friday. Ran for the first time in many months on a friday. Okay weather, circa 10 DEG C. Booked my plane for thursday the 14th of November, where I'm going to Copenhagen. Going back Sunday afternoon. I'm still looking for a place to sleep during my stay.

It rained, but I still ran my weekly 8 km in 38 minutes. Not very good, and I'm still more dead than alive when I get back, but I do it for the therapeutic reasons and to get fresh air.
I forgot to say that I bought Manic Street Preacher's Know Your Enemy and This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours last week.

It rained all day, so I stayed indoor. Baked pancakes and bread. Finished Paul Auster's Timbuktu, started on, and finished his Music of Change.
2002-11-02
Did some shopping (groceries, a new sweater), vacuum cleaned, washed the stairs. Read Don Delillo's the Body Artist. Short, and a quick read, but very well-written (it should be - he wrote Underworld!). Started on Paul Auster's Timbuktu.

Started using Phoenix as web browser. It's very light weight, supports java, flash, tabbed browsing (very cool feature!) etc, and has a configuration option saying: "Reject popup windows". What more can one want? Check it out on their website. Binaries for Windows, GNU/Linux etc. Very very easy to install. Just unpack and doubleclik on the phoenix.exe file... (yes, I admit it: I'm running Win98).
